Starting October 1, 2026, the City of Bordentown will officially transition from cityofbordentown.com to cityofbordentown.gov.

So, why the change?

This transition is about security, trust and making it easier for residents to identify official City information online. A .gov domain is reserved for verified U.S. government entities and helps the public recognize that a website or email is coming from an official government source. It also provides additional security protections and helps reduce the risk of online impersonation and phishing.

What does this mean for you?

Not much! We’ve made the transition as seamless as possible.

Website: If you type www.cityofbordentown.com, you will automatically be redirected to www.cityofbordentown.gov.

Email: City email addresses will now end in @cityofbordentown.gov instead of @cityofbordentown.com. Emails sent to the old .com addresses will be redirected to the new .gov addresses.

Same City. Same services. More secure.

♻️ RECYCLING CONTAMINATION: PLEASE BE MINDFUL!

We receive recycling rejection reports that show us what is being found in our recycling stream — and lately, we are seeing far too much contamination, especially trash and Styrofoam.

We understand that some recycling rules can be confusing, but please take a moment to check before you toss something in the bin. If it isn’t accepted, it does not belong in your recycling.

And while we haven’t been seeing batteries as one of the biggest sources of contamination, we want to take this opportunity to remind everyone:

🚫 NEVER put lithium-ion batteries, rechargeable batteries, electronics, or other battery-powered devices in your recycling bin.

These items can cause fires in collection trucks and recycling facilities, putting collection crews, drivers, and facility workers at serious risk.

This isn't just a recycling issue — it’s a safety issue.

We all have a part in keeping our recycling stream clean and safe. BE MINDFUL. CHECK BEFORE YOU RECYCLE.

Not sure if something is recyclable? ASK! It’s always better to find out than to guess.

♻️ Recycle right. Recycle safely.

🚰 FALL 2026 HYDRANT FLUSHING SCHEDULE

The City of Bordentown Water Department will be conducting hydrant flushing on:

📅 October 13–15
📅 October 20–22

We know hydrant flushing can sometimes be an inconvenience. You may notice cloudy, yellow, or slightly discolored water, as well as temporarily reduced water pressure while flushing is taking place in your neighborhood.

While it may not always seem necessary, hydrant flushing is an important part of maintaining our water system. Regular flushing helps clear sediment and mineral deposits from water mains, maintain water quality, test hydrants, and ensure adequate water flow and pressure throughout the system.

💧 What should you do if you experience cloudy or discolored water?

• Run your cold water for several minutes until it runs clear.
• Avoid doing laundry until your water has cleared.
• Temporary low water pressure is normal while hydrants are being flushed in your area and should return to normal once flushing is complete.
• If your water does not clear after running the cold water, please contact the Water Department at 609-298-0604 opt. 1.

📍 Check Your Neighborhood's Schedule

Residents can view the complete hydrant flushing schedule and check when flushing is scheduled for their neighborhood by visiting our website www.cityofbordentown.com in the 'News Section' or viewing the Water Department's page.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while this important maintenance is being completed!

We honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, military members, and everyday Americans who stepped forward in the days and years that followed.

May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the spirit of compassion, courage, and unity that brought communities together.

♻️ Recycling Reminder: Keep Batteries Out of Your Recycling Bin!

As we work together to keep Bordentown clean and safe, please take a moment to check what you’re putting in your recycling container.

🔋 Lithium-ion batteries, rechargeable batteries, electronics, and other battery-powered devices should NEVER be placed in your recycling bin. These items can spark fires and pose a serious safety risk to collection crews, collection vehicles, and recycling facilities.

Before you toss it in the bin, check for a battery! When in doubt, keep it out and find the proper way to dispose of it.

♻️ Recycling right helps protect our community, our workers, and our environment.
